OUR PROCESS

All our yarn and fibre is dyed to order in our Donegal studio, ensuring your ideal colourway and base combination is available when you need it.

Once you place your order online, the yarn faeries set to work making the woolly magic happen.

We start the process by soaking the base yarn overnight. Each unique colourway is then hand painted the following morning, using professional grade light and colour fast dyes. The batch is gently steamed and left to cool overnight, allowing the colours to completely set. We then throughly rinse the yarn, before hanging it to air dry.

Once dry, the skeins are hand twisted and labeled, before being carefully wrapped in tissue paper for the journey to their new home.

Our fibre is dyed using the same process, before being hand combed using a long hackle, or blended for rolags on a blending board.

Handcombing blends and smooths the fibres after dying, and helps restore the wool's natural crimp.  The end result is light, lofty and full of floof that's ready to spin.

Due to the bespoke nature of our yarn and fibre, each order takes an average of 7 days from ordering to shipping. This can be longer during busy seasons (Christmas and the like), but rest assured we will prep your order as fast as we can!
